Summer is such an inspiring time of the year, but it’s also a busier time where many of us don’t always have the time to get back home from work for a change of clothes, let alone makeup, before meeting friends for sundowners. For today’s look, I tried to create a quick and easy day-to-night look inspired by sunset colours.
Since the color palette on this look isn’t too dark, it was easy to go for pink, bronze and yellow toned shimmery shadows that can work for day time and easily transition into night time. To achieve the sunset gradient look, I used the E.L.F. Prism Eyeshadow Palette in Sunset, and since I wanted a slightly darker shade for the corner of my eyes, I also used Colourpop’s SuperShock Shadow in Game Face.
#1: Using a large blending brush, I started by applying a light peach matte shadow all over my eyelids.
#2: Next I mixed the pink, peach and golden shades from the Prism palette and applied all over the mobile eyelid with a flat shader brush.
#3: I applied the Game Face on the outer corners of my eyelids using my ring finger.
#4: For this last step I applied the purple shade in the Prism palette right on my lash line using a flat precision shader brush, pushing the product upwards for a smoky effect, starting at the outer corner and ending at about a third of my lash line.
I also applied the purple shade to my lower lash line, and highlighted the inner corners of my eyes using the lightest shade in the Prism palette (not pictured).
Face & lip details:
The focus of this look was definitely the eyes, but I did want a luminous finish to my face, so I used the Bourgeois Healthy Mix Foundation together with the NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam.
I contoured using the NYX Highlight & Contour Pro palette, dusted on a light layer of Zoeva’s Luxe Color blush in Last Love, and finished it off with a mix of The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer and Betty-Lou Manizer.
Finally, I applied the NYX Matte Lipstick in the shade Aria; I love its hydrating formula and long lasting effect which make it perfect for a day-to-night look!
Note that I didn’t use a setting spray but would recommend using one, as well as a setting powder on your T-zone if you are planning on wearing this look all day.
And now here’s the finished look:
I hope you enjoyed this look! Let me know if you have any questions or if you decide to recreate it! And enjoy summer (unless you’re here with me in Berlin, in which case all I have to say to you is “our time will come.”).
