Today’s makeup look is something I’ve been practicing for a few weeks, but only decided to publish after a dear friend encouraged me to do so. The challenge was to make it work for my round and protruding eye shape, which is not always the easiest shape to work with. I did figure out how to make it work for me, so here is my first attempt for those of you who wanted to try the look but didn’t know how!
I forgot to take step-by-step photos for this look, but I hope to redeem myself in this post by providing a few basic tips on how you can make the popular Instagram look!
Round protruding eyes have a few specific characteristics; the eye is rounded, the center of the mobile lid is raised and the crease is well defined. People with round and/or protruding eyes often make the mistake to follow the typical eyeshadow techniques meant for hooded eyes, which further emphasizes the roundness of the eyes and makes them prominent. While there are no right or wrong ways of doing your eyeshadow (because it’s a free world!), I will do another article where I get into this topic a little more. For now, here are the steps I followed for this specific look:
#1: I primed and set my eyes using concealer and powder (both from Maybelline)
#2: Taking a flat detailer Brush, I applied a soft line of black eyeshadow along the outer 3rd part of my eye crease, winged it out and then smoked out the shadow upwards
#3: I repeated the same previous step, only this time I use the bronze eyeshadow I chose for this look (Colourpop’s Game Face). I also decided to apply some of this shadow on the inner 3rd part of of my mobile lids, but this was just my own little twist on the cut create.
#4: The final step to this easy cut crease is to apply a wing of black eyeliner. You can connect it to the bronze eyeshadow wing, but I preferred to leave it disconnected this time.
