Can you have a makeup/beauty blog without doing monthly favorites? The answer is probably yes. But is this about to become an even more basic beauty blog? The answer is DEFINITELY. And what better month to start this monthly favorites series than the back-to-school/back-to-work month of September? You think I ask too many questions? Me too!So I decided to include a monthly makeup favorite series in my blog, because I found myself going back to certain products more than others. I think it’s a great way to share my view on products I enjoy using, so I hope you will find it helpful! Instead of showing you swatches of products, I also thought about including photos of past makeup looks in which I used the products I talk about.
- ABH Modern Renaissance palette
I’ve already mentioned it in 90% of this month’s blog posts, but this palette is truly a must have. It has a variety of warm reds and oranges and pinks, and includes beautiful transition shades such as Raw Sienna and Burnt Orange. It also has a good balance between shimmery, satin and matte shadows that are all very soft and make blending feel like a breeze. All these qualities make it a great palette to invest in if you like warm tones, especially for the upcoming fall season. Some have complained that the shadows are too powdery and have too much fallout, but I personally think that is the case with any highly pigmented eyeshadows. My “trick” is simply to apply eyeshadow before face makeup.
- Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil:
I have naturally full eyebrows, so on most days I will simply brush them in place, maybe apply some brow gel. However, I do appreciate a nicely shaped and filled brow for the purpose of makeup looks, so I find this product is absolutely perfect for my type of eyebrows. This brow pencil is designed specifically for people with fuller eyebrows and need to fill in sparse areas; it is meant to stick to eyebrow hairs rather than on the skin, which allows to control thickness and cover sparse areas where needed. The shape also makes it easy to create nice straight lines to enhance the shape of my eyebrows. Last but not least, this brow pencil comes with an integrated spooley, which is perfect for travel!
- P2 Renew Lash Serum:
This is an eyelash serum meant to refresh your old coat of mascara to allow a second application. It’s handy if you don’t have the time to remove your makeup and do it again, and works like a charm! Now this is a German drusgtore brand so unless you live in Germany, you won’t be able to find it. But the reason this is a favorite this month is mostly because of the concept; I had heard of the Urban Decay Mascara resurrection which is a similar product, but was on the fence mainly because of the price. I was delighted to find one that actually works and costs less than 3 euros, so if you can find something similar that won’t break the bank, definitely give it a try! (No photo for this eyelash serums because well, do you really want me to explain why? :P)
- Essence Super Precise Eyeliner:
It’s super AND it’s very precise. This liquid liner from the German drugstore is my favorite of all time! The brush is soft enough to glide smoothly, but it is also quite sturdy and offer great hand motion control. The liquid liner has a semi-matte finish and is quite pigmented, so one layer of application is usually enough to get a sleek look. Now, I am no newbie at the eyeliner game (!!humble brag alert!!) but this eyeliner takes it to another level. I suspect it’s a good product if you are working on your technique but don’t want to break the bank 😉
- NYX Liquid Suede in Cherry Skies:
I know, I know, I am super late to the party, but hey, I never said this was going to be about new products. I recently got my hands on a couple colours from this line and I am absolutely in love. But this specific shade is a top favorite for a few reasons; first, it’s a great color that looks gorgeous on all skin tones. It also is very pigmented, so a little goes a long way. Last but not least, it is long lasting (about 6 hours), and powers through food and drinks eventhough it transfers and can bleed if I don’t use it with a lipliner. I will most definitely be using this throughout the entire fall season, so expect to see it in more looks like this one.
- Kiko 3D Hydra Lipgloss:
This is hands down the best lipgloss I’ve ever tried. I bought it on a whim one day because i fell in love with the packaging. I am not usually a lipgloss person, which is why I chose the safe route with this red shade. It is very hydrating as the name suggests, and while it does transfer like any lipgloss would, it is surprisingly long lasting, without being sticky. Like most lip glosses, it has a does foot applicator, but the trick is in the texture which glides easily on the lips. I will most definitely be purchasing more shades in this line as I would like to be able to create more makeup looks with glossy lips.
- Catrice Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder:
I have been absolutely in love with this bronzer from the moment I swatched it. It has the perfect orange-ash balance which makes it great for an allover bronzer as well as a greal powder for a soft contour. The texture is buttery and blends seamlessly on the skin. It does only come in two shades which is a problem with most skin products at the drugstore, but if you have medium-tan skin then this is a perfect bronzer. I love a good bronzer because it can easily pull a simple makeup look together without needing blusher. And the cherry on top is that it retails at less than 3 euros, but will last for ages!
If you stayed until the end, thank so much for stopping by!I hope you guys enjoyed this first favorites article and found it somehow informative! Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and what you thought of them!
