Brick & Burgundy: Quick Makeup for Brown Eyes

Hey guys! I’m back with another evening makeup look for you this week. I recently received some new makeup babies in an order I made last month on Beauty Bay, so I decided to try them out for a quick evening makeup. I wanted to use warm orange and burgundy shades to create a no-fuss look that will take minimal effort. So if you are looking for some inspiration for your next evening outing, I hope this makeup look will help!
EYES
My favourite thing to do when I want an eye makeup that looks sophisticated but doesn’t take too much time or work, I go for a matte eyeshadow combination and some smoked out eyeliner. Here i used the shade Burnt Orange from the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette as a transition shade, blending it a bit above where my natural crease sits. Next I took the shade Realgar from the same palette and applied it all over the lid using a flat shader brush. I also dragged this shade on the outer corners and up towards the outer ends of my eyebrows; this is a great trick to elongate the eyes, especially if you have round protruding eyes like myself.

I used 2 matte eyeshadows, 1 kohl liner and some mascara: quick and easy!

Eyeliner takes a long time for most people so instead, I applied a thin line of the Models Own i-Definer Waterproof Kohl Pencil in Chocolate Copper along my upper lashlines, and thickened the line on the outer 3rd part. Using a pencil brush I gently smoked out the eyeliner to blend it with Realgar. I also applied the same eyeliner on my water lines and lower lashlines, and then smoked it out as well. This last part I always do after I apply and set my concealer. I finished off with two layers of mascara on my upper and bottom lashes.

Mascara Tip: Use a spooley to brush your eyelashes after each coat; taking the excess off helps to even out the layers as you build them up!

FACE
For my complexion I used the RCMA Series Favourites Palette in KO for the first time ever, and I actually really liked the result, so keep an eye out for a review on this. I don’t have any serious skin issues, so I applied this to the center of my face where I have some redness and darkness, essentially to unify my skin tone, but without covering my entire skin. I then used my trusted UD Naked Skin Concealer to cover my dark circles and set it with the Maybelline Fit Me powder. I didn’t want to spend too much time sculpting my face since the purpose is a quick makeup look, so I used the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in a shade lighter than my skin tone, to highlight the bridge of my nose and cheekbones, and a bronzer to warm up my skin around the edges of my face, and a light dusting on the center of my face.

Complexion Tip: Spray your face with a setting spray to use it as a primer. For extra assurance, spray it also on your foundation brush or sponge before blending.

LIPS
I love a bold statement lip, but I didn’t have a burgundy lip liner so I used a dark brown one to define my lips, and then went over it with the Milani Amore Matte Lip Crème in Sugar, which is a beautiful burgundy shade that dries out a bit lighter than it goes on. And voilà! This look literally took me 20 minutes to do, and since I didn’t do a winged liner or use false lashes, and skipped on the contour/highlight/blush step, I think it’s perfect if you don’t have too much time before going out but still want to look like you put some effort into your makeup.

I hope you guys enjoyed this look and found it helpful! Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions 🙂 I will be doing a separate haul blog post on all the new makeup I received where I’ll show you some of the products I used in this look and tell you more about them! Thank you for stopping by! xoxo

Yes! Always line my lips, if not with a similar colour lipliner then i will use a lip brush and line with the lipstick before applying all over 🙂
