Happy Sunday world! Today’s post is just a quick one because I just recreated this chart by talented MAC makeup artist Sergey X (known as @milk1422 on Instagram). Sergey who hails from Russia, is known for creating gorgeous facecharts using different techniques. If I had to describe his style, I would say it is somewhere between whimsical and abstract. Think sparkles, graphic lines, paint brush effects and everything in between.
To give you a better idea of what his work looks like, here are a few examples:
Today I recreated this chart Sergey recently posted on Instagram. It immediately spoke to because of the blue/red/purple concentration of colours, with that touch of yellow. White highlights are Sergey’s staple which he incorporates in most of his creations.
I started out with my upper lids and eyebrows before applying foundation, because I knew there was going to be a lot of fallout, and i didn’t want messy cheeks because of the detailed work i knew I was going to do with the white specks. I loved recreating this makeup especially because I got to use not 1, not 2 but 4 eyeshadow palettes, in addition to 4 single eyeshadows. Way to make use of all that makeup that usually wouldn’t be used all at once!
Specifically, I used Karity Smokey Palette, Sleek Ultra Matts V2, Smashbox Double Exposure, ArtDeco single shadow in 135, Makeup Geek single shadows in Chickadee, Lemon Drop and Voltage.
I don’t actually own a good white liquid liner, so I decided to pull out my Halloween white face paint by Eulenspiegel, which turned out to be just perfect for the task.
On my upper lashes I packed about 4 coats of the Maybelline Rocket mascara, a favourite in the beauty community. I also used the Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner to draw lashes right under my eyes.
For my lips I used a drugstore black khol liner to outline them, and then corrected the edges using Morphe’s Gel Liner in Slate. The next step was definitely the trickiest part, as I had to think hard about which lip colour was going to go first, making sure that the finish is as close to the facechart as possible. I ended up mixing Gerard Cosmetics Lipe Creème in Maneater with NYX Liquid Suede in Sway to create a deep purple colour, which I then topped with a purple eyeshadow from the Karity palette. I also used the Makeup Forever Rouge Artist 43 as my red, and dotted some bright pink eyeshadow since I didn’t have a lipstick in that shade.
At the end I was quite satisfied with this look, and while it did take over 2 hours with 1 break to finish, I found I really enjoyed it. It was truly a relaxing experience and a great way to unwind and get back in touch with myself. Basically, it was a therapy session haha
I hope you guys liked this look as much as i did! I will most likely be recreating a few more of these facecharts by Sergey, and I highly recommend you check out his Instagram page for some inspiration, or just for the sake of enjoying the beauty that comes through his artist digits! And as usual, thank you so much for stopping by! Stay safe.
